WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Chemical peels are esthetic treatments designed to exfoliate the skin and may enhance the overall appearance of skin tone and texture. Your provider will select and apply a chemical solution based on your skin type and treatment plan.

A chemical peel is designed to exfoliate surface skin cells and may support a smoother-looking appearance. Recovery time depends on the depth of the peel. We offer several types of chemical peels, including glycolic and TCA-based treatments, tailored to individual skin concerns. Individual results vary.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Chemical peels are not recommended for skin with active irritation or open wounds. Individuals experiencing active acne or other skin concerns should discuss treatment timing with their provider.

In some cases, a chemical peel may be performed on the same day as a consultation if you are determined to be an appropriate candidate.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Lighter peels are generally well-tolerated. Medium peels penetrate more deeply and can produce a stronger tingling sensation. Deep peels involve numbing the skin beforehand to improve comfort. Peels take just a few minutes to perform, and most patients tolerate the sensation well.

Patients who are susceptible to cold sores may experience an outbreak after treatment; your provider may recommend preventive medication. Because new skin cells may produce less pigment, changes in skin tone can occur, including lightening of pigment, and in some cases these changes may be lasting. Your provider will assess whether a chemical peel is suitable for your skin type.

At your appointment, your provider will assess your skin and determine the appropriate depth of peel for your case. Treatment specifics and costs are reviewed at that time. We also offer CareCredit as an option to all of our patients.

Chemical peels are considered cosmetic treatments and are generally not covered by medical insurance.
